- Catholicism in Motion: The Church in American Society by James D. Davidson -- A wide-ranging series of 98 short essays (originally published as newspaper columns) organized into 10 topical chapters that quickly summarize what recent research tells us about the church and its members.
- Christ and Culture by H. Richard Niebuhr — Analyzes Christians and their churches by references to five models. A key to understanding why and how Christians differ from one another — and what can be done to keep everyone on track.
- Heroic Leadership by Chris Lowney — A former Jesuit seminarian and executive with J.P. Morgan outlines the Jesuits’ four pillars of leadership and shows how they helped build an organization of incredible effectiveness and global reach that has thrived for almost five centuries. Great stories to be found and great lessons to be gleaned from a book that’s a fine read all around.
- Leadership by the Book by Ken Blanchard, Phil Hodges and Bill Hybels — A fine little parable that addresses the two-fold challenge to be a successful leader and a faithful Christian.
- Models of Church by Avery Dulles — A must for Catholics who want to understand their church. Dulles builds on Niebuhr’s work in Christ and Culture to explain why and how Catholics see their church from various frames of reference — and how these differences can be transcended.
- Servant Leader by Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges — A beautiful book that teaches a lot in a relatively few pages. A truly Christian approach to the challenge of leadership.
